At around 4:30 pm on May 25, a 35-year-old man was riding a southbound A Train when he was approached by a man. Cops said without warning the suspect grabbed the straphanger by the throat and began punching the victim in the chest.
As he assaulted the victim, cops said, the attacker made anti-LGBTQ slurs.
When the train stopped the attacker ran out of the subway and the station in an unknown direction.
The victim refused medical attention at the scene.
The case is being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force.
Investigators released a photo of the suspect. The alleged attacker is described as a male with a medium build, bald head who is between the ages of 30 and 35. He was last seen wearing a light green shirt, dark green sweatpants, sunglasses, and white sneakers.
