MANHATTAN - Cops busted a Bronx man in connection with an attempted sexual assault and robbery inside a subway car at Chambers Street.
Police arrested 44-year-old Patrick Robles of Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. Robles was charged with attempted rape, robbery and attempted criminal sex act by force.
Cops said Robles is the man seen on subway station surveillance video walking away from the train. Investigators said Robles sexually assaulted a female straphanger inside a subway train at the Chambers Street station on a Friday night.
At around 9 pm on June 9, a 29-year-old woman was riding in a southbound J Train at the Chambers Street station in lower Manhattan. While sitting inside the car a man walked over to her. He then exposed his penis to the woman and attempted to force her to perform oral sex on him, cops said.
When the woman resisted, the man punched her in the face. He then pinned the woman to the ground and tried to removed her clothes, cops said.
While still on top of her, the attacker removed the victim’s cash, cellphone and keys, cops said.
Investigators said, the woman was able to break away from her attacker and ran off the train.
Cops said the attacker stayed on the train as it continued southbound. It is unknown at this time what stop the suspect got off the train.
