MANHATTAN - Police are investigating a possible hate crime attack on a couple in Korea Town.

Investigators released surveillance video of a man in the possible hate attack. Reports claim the man just approached the couple and verbally and then physically assaulted them without warning.

At around 1:30 am on May 23, a 39-year-old male and a 39-year-old female were getting into an  Uber parked in front of 23 West 32 Street. Cops say a man approached out of the blue and began making anti-Asian remarks.

According to police, the situation escalated as the man spat at the woman and then shoved the man to the ground. The attacker then began kicking the man in the leg as he lay on the floor.

Seeing the attack, cops say Good Samaritans rushed to the couple’s aid. As the people intervened, the attacker ran off.

The female victim was not injured and the male victim sustained minor injuries to his leg. Both victims refused medical treatment at the scene.

Police said the case has been referred to the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force which is investigating the mater as a possible crime.

The suspect is described as a man with light complexion, a medium build and black hair. He was last seen wearing a white hooded shirt, blue jeans and gray shoes.
