Follow @xNEW YORK - Cops are looking for a pair of subway muggers who viciously beat three straphangers at major subway stations.
Investigators have identified two men in three violent robberies in Lower Manhattan. The suspects were caught on surveillance cameras jumping the turnstiles at one of the locations.
At around 5 am on October 10, a 60-year-old man was sitting on a bench at the southbound platform for the Number 6 train at the Bleecker Street station. Cops said two masked men walked up to the straphanger and punched him. When the victim fell to the floor, the attackers began kicking him in the head and face. The muggers then rifled through the victim’s pockets and made off with $65 cash.
The attackers then hopped on the southbound Number 6 train.
EMS transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital where he was treated and listed in stable condition.
Cops said the attackers were not heard of again for another month. When they returned to action they struck twice in one day.
At around 3 am on November 7, a 58-year-old male was walking on the mezzanine level of the Times Square station. Cops said the men ran up to him and knocked the straphanger to the ground. They then began repeatedly punching the victim before removing his cellphone and wallet. The attackers then just walked out of the subway station.
An hour and a half later, the same crew struck at the Fulton Street station, cops said. At around 4:30 am, a 46-year-old man was riding the southbound Number 2 train. As the train approached Fulton Street, the pair pounced. The attackers punched the victim in the face and then removed his cellphone and $80 cash. At the next stop the attackers hopped off the train and walked out of the station.
EMS transported the victim to Bellevue where he was treated.
