Follow @xMANHATTAN - A woman was nearly viciously raped near the entrance to the Brooklyn - Battery Tunnel early Sunday morning, cops said. The NYPD has released surveillance video in the hope of capturing the alleged sex offender.
At around 1:25 am on September 15, a 29-year-old woman was walking in the vicinity of Joseph P. Ward Street and Washington Street. Cops said a man ran up to her, pushed her to the ground and attempted to rape her on the street.
The attacker fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The victim was treated at Lenox Health Greenwich Village Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
The case is being investigated by the NYPD’s Special Victims Squad.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect. He is described as a male with a dark complexion. He was last seen shirtless and wearing black pants and black sneakers.
