MANHATTAN - Call it a Chinatown beat down. Cops are looking for an elderly shoplifter who punched a 70-year-old man in the face during a fight over fruit.
At around 12:30 pm on May 22, an elderly man was at a fruit stand at 281 Grand Street in Chinatown. Cops said the man tried to remove fruit from the stand without paying for it.
When the 70-year-old employee tried to stop him, the shoplifter punched the worker in the face, cops said.
The attacker ran westbound on Grand Street empty handed.
Cops said the victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS.
The NYPD released video of the suspect from the fruit stand.
The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion and average build.
He was last seen wearing a blue hat, gray shirt, and dark colored pants.
