Shoplifter Threatens Worker with Knife in Flatiron District

MANHATTAN - A shoplifter threatened a worker with a knife when the clerk tried to stop him from leaving the Burlington store without paying.


At around 5 pm on May 7, a man tried to walk out of a Burlington store at 707 Avenue of the Americas without paying. When a worker tried to stop him, the man whipped out a switchblade and threatened him.


The worker backed off and the shoplifter walked out with the stolen property.


Police released surveillance video from inside the department store.


The suspect is described as a man between the ages of 30 and 40. He was last seen wearing a red hat, a blue jean jacket, multi-colored pants, white shoes and carrying bags.
