MANHATTAN - The dramatic crash that killed a passenger and turned a Lamborghini SUV into a fireball, has led to the driver being hit with murder charges, the NYPD said.

Police have arrested 22-year-old Alejandro Rentas of Mosholu Parkway in the Bronx. He was charged with manslaughter, assault and reckless endangerment in the death of his passenger 21-year-old Tiana Rodriguez.

Cops said Rodriguez was killed when Rentas lost control of the luxury SUV and slammed into a subway pillar. The truck burst into flames and was captured on Citizen App.

At around 10:15 pm on December 4, Rentas was driving a Lamborghini SUV northbound on 10th Avenue in Inwood. Cops said the luxury truck collided with a Hyundai Elantra that was attempting to make a left turn on 213th Street.

Cops said the Lamborghini then slammed into the subway pillar and the truck burst into flames. Rescuers were able to remove Rentas from the truck before the SUV was consumed in flames.

Child Protective Services

Cops said Rodriguez was dead on impact.

Rentas was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Hyundai was also transported to a hospital for treatment.

Rentas was charged in Rodriguez’ death after a month of investigation.
